Citizen CPR is privately funded by the Give Well Community Foundation to provide Hands Only CPR instruction in participating Polk County middle and high schools.
Florida Legislature is considering a mandate for all Florida schools to have CPR as a prerequisite for high school graduation.
This initiative is a proactive approach between participating schools and Citizen CPR to incorporate this vital skill into the curriculum.
We have been able to expand this initiative every year working with more and more middle and high schools. The success at these schools has ensured continued funding.
Hands Only CPR skill has been proven to save lives during a witnessed cardiac arrest. We believe it is important to give our middle and high school students the chance to learn how to save a life.
WHAT IS HANDS ONLY CPR?
Hands only CPR is CPR without mouth-to-mouth breaths. It is recommended for use by people who see an adult suddenly collapse in an “out of hospital” setting (home, work, in a park, etc.).
